Frei Brothers Sonoma Reserve is rooted in unparalleled expertise
of Sonoma County, developed over our 125 years of growing wine
on our Dry Creek Valley Ranch.
To ensure the true varietal character of each grape shines through
in our wines, Winegrower Scott Johnsen begins by growing the
right grapes in the places where they grow best. This gives our Frei
Brothers wines clarity in flavor that can only be found from vines
grown in their ideal place, allowing our winemakers to craft a
collection of award-winning Sonoma County wines that convey a pure expression of the land.
We grow much of our Frei Brothers wines on our estate vineyards
throughout many of Sonoma County’s most significant wine regions.
We also rely on the strength of our longtime relationships with some
of the region’s oldest winegrowing families. For as many as 60 years,
we’ve worked with these growers who have invested generations
into perfecting their vineyard sites, techniques and varieties to bring
us the best fruit possible from that region.
For our cool-climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc,
we look to vineyards in the maritime influenced Russian River Valley AVA. Meanwhile, our Cabernet Sauvignon develops rich complexity from the classic warm days and cool nights of Alexander Valley. For our Merlot and Zinfandel, we look to our depth of experience with the unique topography and soils of the hot, narrow Dry Creek Valley, bringing deep, concentrated flavors to the grapes.
As Sonoma County natives, we are also committed to preserving
